Proof That Consciousness Can't Be Mathematically Modeled
Saturday, 13 November 2004

I'm thinking that maybe the proof about the impossibility of mathematical modeling of the consciousness might be interesting by itself, and that's why I provide a place if someone feels that there is error in the proof, or to wants to comment in any way...

Penrose supposedly proves that consciousness can't be an algorithm in The Emperor's New Mind, but i don't remember what the proof was or didn't read it so i can't vouch for its accuracy yet.

i have a deconstruction of consciousness = brain processes that parallels this one at www.gate.net/~inhahe/consc.htm - the pertinant part is actually the fourth page and it's almost impossible even for me to follow now. :)

it leads to the unescapable conclusion that if the brain is the mind, then all physical systems are minds - but i don't really believe that the brain is the mind so i don't believe that all physical systems are minds even if it may seem to imply that i do.
